The Law Office of Steven T. Auerbach is committed to ensuring that our website is accessible to everyone, including people who are blind or have low vision, are deaf or hard of hearing, or have other disabilities. Access to legal information and to our intake process should not depend on how a visitor perceives a screen.
Our standard
We work to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, and they are the standard used in the United States to evaluate digital accessibility.
What we have done
- Built the site with semantic HTML — proper headings, landmarks, lists, and labeled forms — so that screen reader auxiliary aids such as JAWS, NVDA, and VoiceOver can navigate and announce content correctly.
- Provided a “Skip to content” link and an “Accessibility Statement” link as the first items on every page so keyboard users can bypass repeated navigation.
- Written descriptive alternative text for meaningful images and titled embedded content such as our location map.
- Labeled all buttons and interactive controls, including our chat assistant, so their purpose is announced to assistive technology.
- Designed forms to announce errors to screen reader users and to move focus to what needs attention.
- Checked text and background color combinations for sufficient contrast.
- Made the chat assistant reachable early in the page and operable by keyboard, with a phone alternative if it cannot be used.
- Provided a keyboard-operable pause control for moving content and honored the system “reduced motion” setting.
Ongoing effort and known limitations
Accessibility is an ongoing effort, not a one-time project. We review the site as we add content and features, and we work to correct issues as we find them. Some content provided by third parties, or documents added over time, may not yet fully meet our standard. If you encounter any part of this site that you cannot use, we want to hear about it and we will work to provide the information or service you need in another way.
