Ariel Olstein is Of Counsel to Law Office of Steven T. Auerbach and a partner at Chanen & Olstein. He brings broad civil litigation experience, including trials, appeals, dispositive motion practice, settlement negotiations, and complex commercial disputes.
Ariel serves as Of Counsel on civil litigation matters referred through the Law Office of Steven T. Auerbach. This relationship is for the firm’s existing clients and their immediate family members, in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
Ariel represents clients in matters requiring thoughtful strategy, persuasive advocacy, and practical judgment. His experience includes trying cases in federal and state court, arguing before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, and handling disputes involving contracts, commercial real estate, wage claims, fraud, civil rights, and criminal matters. He has secured favorable judgments, negotiated pretrial settlements, and successfully drafted and argued motions in trial and appellate courts.
Before founding Chanen & Olstein, Ariel practiced at MK Counsel and Valorem Law Group. At Valorem, he handled a diverse docket of civil and criminal matters, including a federal commercial real-estate trial, a state-court sexual-assault case resulting in a plaintiff’s judgment, contract and fraud disputes resolved through favorable settlements, and criminal defense matters. His background gives clients the benefit of a lawyer comfortable litigating high-stakes issues while remaining focused on efficient, practical resolutions.
Ariel graduated magna cum laude from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 2016. He was elected to the Order of the Coif, competed on the Moot Court team, and received multiple national and local honors for legal writing and oral advocacy. During law school, he clerked for the Honorable Timothy A. Barnes of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court and Justice Robert E. Gordon of the Illinois Appellate Court.
Ariel was recognized on the Illinois Super Lawyers Rising Stars lists in 2021, 2022, and 2023, an honor awarded to no more than 2.5% of young attorneys in each state. Outside of practice, Ariel and his wife, Devora, are raising four energetic sons—where his work on dispute resolution continues at home.
